Corrine Smeak

Corrine Smeak was announced as the second head coach of the Marian women's lacrosse program in July of 2021.

"I am so excited to have Corrine as our next head women's lacrosse coach," said Director of Athletics Jason Bartelt. "She has coached at a wide range of levels, and I am looking forward to her building our program to a championship level."

Smeak takes the lead for the Marian women's lacrosse program after serving the past two seasons as the head coach at William Penn University. As the inaugural coach at WPU, Smeak lead the program to an 8-12 record over two seasons with seven of those defeats coming to teams receiving votes in the NAIA national poll. This past season, the Statesmen went 6-8 on the season with an even 5-5 mark in conference play, good for fifth in the KCAC standings. Smeak also had two student-athletes earn all-conference recognition, the first postseason award honorees in program history.

"I would like to thank Jason Bartelt and the hiring committee for believing in me to take on the women's lacrosse program," said Smeak. "I am excited and thankful to become a part of the Marian family. I can't wait to continue to build the foundation for this program and work with the current team and staff. I want to thank my friends and family for their support in this new role. Go Sabres!"

Prior to William Penn, Smeak was a key component to the growth of girl's lacrosse in the state of Florida. Smeak served as the head coach for Wharton High School for seven seasons. She also served as the coach of the national team for the Florida Gulf Coast in 2013 following a 2012 season that saw her earn Florida Gulf Coast Lacrosse League Coach of the Year honors. Smeak would also go on to serve as a board chair and secretary for the Florida Gulf Coast, and served as the Vice President for the New Tampa Lacrosse Club for four years.

The Frederick, Md. native is a certified level one and two coach through US Lacrosse, and has served as a trainer for the Coaching Education Program with US Lacrosse since 2016.

Smeak earned a bachelor of science in elementary and secondary education from Saint Francis University in 2009 where she played Division I lacrosse for four seasons. She went on to play 52 games in her collegiate career recording 57 ground balls, 27 coming in her senior season. Smeak served as a captain in her final two seasons with the Red Flash and was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Smeak is currently pursuing a Masters of Sport Coaching degree from the University of Denver.
